Billions of dollars are flowing into the science of longevity. Today, the fastest-growing age group in the country is over 85. The number of nonagenarians will quadruple in the next 30 years and the number of centenarians will grow eightfold. The players in the Beautyman Cup are showing the way.
TEAM WORLD
Men’s 70 Team
Carl Poske. Carl is a USPTA professional with over fifty years of teaching and management experience. He has held positions as the Head Professional at the Boca West Club, Director of Tennis at Town Swim and Racquet Club, Director of Tennis for 20 years at the Oak Bridge Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, General Manager of The ATP Club and currently 10 years as the Director of Tennis at the DW Club in Ponte Vedra Beach. Carl has won with his daughter Sierra one Gold ball and two Silver balls in the National Clay Court Father/ Daughter Championship. He won a bronze medal at the 2022 ITF 65’s World Championship and has won a Category Two National 65’s title in Singles and Doubles.
Lou Desmarteaux Lou Desmarteaux was a Member of the Canadian Davis Cup team and an All-American in college. Desmarteaux has won the New England Men’s Championship, Canada’s National Senior Doubles Championship twice, and held the #1 ranking in Canada’s Men’s Open 35’s, 40’s, 45’s and 50’s.

Men’s 75 Team
John Payne John Payne will be representing Canada in the upcoming World Team Championships in Majorca in October, and has represented Canada in the World Team Championships on four other occasions. He has represented Canada in the Gordon Trophy on numerous occasions. His highest ITF ranking in his age group was 15.
Jan Kofol Jan was born in the Czech Republic and moved to the United States in 1968 with his family. He graduated from Presbyterian College in South Carolina and went on to receive an MBA from New York University. He worked over 30 years in banking in New York City. Jan began playing tennis at the age of 12 and was a highly ranked junior player in Czechoslovakia. At Presbyterian College, he was a member of the tennis team which finished runner-up in the National NAIA Championships two consecutive years. Jan is an active participant on ITF Masters Tour and is currently ranked #26 in the World in his age group.
Men’s 80 Team
Dan Hazelton Dan played collegiate tennis and basketball and began focusing more on tennis when his semi-pro basketball career finished. Dan’s tennis highlights include winning senior singles and doubles events in twelve countries; being ranked number one in Switzerland in his age group; and winning seven national team titles in Switzerland. This year, Dan has been ranked number eight in the ITF World rankings in singles.
Brant A. Bailey. Brant played tennis collegiately at the University of Georgia from 1966 to 1970, and was named Co-Captain and All-SEC in his final year. He has been ranked as high as #250 in the World Men’s Open rankings (1974), #52 nationally (1970), #4 in the State of Florida, #2 in the State of Georgia (1969), and is currently ranked #7 nationally in the Men’s 75’s division. Brant now lives in St. Petersburg, FL, but has also lived in Finland when he was an Exchange Student (1965), and has also lived in New Zealand, Australia, France, and India. Brant has been married for 43 years to Analyn Ruth Bailey and has four children and seven grandchildren. He has practiced estate planning and probate law for the past 35 years, after spending the first five years of his career doing litigation work.

Men’s 70 Team
Danny Carlson. Danny finished 2022 ranked #1 nationally in his age group in singles, doubles and mixed doubles. During 2022 he was also ranked top 7 in the world in all three events. In the past few years he has won the Worlds in mixed doubles, 3 gold balls and 5 silver balls.
Geoff Cykman Geoff has won eight total gold balls: four in singles, three in doubles, and one in mixed doubles. In 2013, he was ranked #1 in the USA in singles and doubles in the men’s 60+ division. Prior to that, in 2009, Geoff was named the Olympic Club of San Francisco’s Athlete of the the Year from among its 5,000+ members and, more recently, in October, 2022, he was inducted into the Olympic Club’s Hall of Fame.
Men’s 75 Team
Michael Beautyman Michael is the #1 ranked tennis player in his age group in the World and in the USA in singles and doubles. He has won two World team championships and been runner-up in a third. He has won 13 national titles in tennis and has been ranked in the top ten in the USA in four sports (two as a member of a team).
Les Buck Les grew up in New Jersey. He played on the varsity soccer team and captained the varsity tennis team at Princeton University in 1968. After a tour in the US Navy and business career in real estate, energy, and financial services, Les has played on the master’s national and international tennis tour for the past 13 years in the 65, 70 and 75 age divisions. He has won eight USTA national championships and has represented the USA on five national teams in international competition over 13 years. During this period, he has also won two world championships in doubles. Les lives with his wife of 28 years in Las Vegas. They have four children. Les is also the author of three short books, one of which is about Beautyman Cup Creator/Founder Michael Beautyman’s father-in-law, who was an accomplished Viet Cong soldier for 45 years in Vietnam.
Jamie Pressly Jamie represented the USA in the Dubler Cup, Potter Cup, Gordon Trophy, Coffee Cup, and Jr. Davis Cup; Ranked #2 in USA in Men’s 45+ and #27 in USA in Men’s Open categories; Runner-up in Orange Bowl 18’s and 16’s; Southern Champion (3 times); University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame and Doug Belden Award winner (outstanding senior athlete at the University of Florida).
Men’s 80 Team
Fred Drilling. Fred was the #1 ranked player in the ITF’s World 80’s ranking in 2022, when he won the World Team, singles, doubles, and mixed doubles in the 80’s division. He has won four other World mixed doubles, 3 men’s doubles titles, and 2 singles titles. In 2007, Fred was ranked #1 in the World singles 65’s division.
Stephen (Steve) Lunsford. Steve was a former Division I (University of Kansas) and semipro baseball player. He played in his first National (tennis) Tournament at age 60. In 2022, he held the #2 ranking in U.S. singles; the #9 ranking in World singles, and the #7 ranking in World doubles. He has played in the World Individual Championships in both the 75’s and 80’s, and was a semi-finalist in both singles and doubles in both tournaments.
Player selection will be based on ITF World and USTA National rankings, sportsmanship, and team compatibility.
